Is It Worth It To Market On Twitter?
Like many of you, when all the tools came out to help online marketers build a huge Twitter following that you could promote to, I decided to try it out. I signed up for programs that promised to get me followers on Twitter and paid for software tools to help promote my products. By the time I was finished, I'd spent money on something like eight programs to carry out some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing.
The first software I invested in allowed me to automatically follow people in the hopes that they would then return the favor and follow me. Next there was the program that would un-follow individuals who were not following me. This way I could be following Twitter users who might follow me back. Amongst other software I purchased, there was one which automatically tweeted a blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog. Initially, I was genuinely happy with the end results after using the programs in combination as they really delivered on what they promised. However, my exhilaration was quickly crushed when I realized that I wasn't pulling in any money. I would post to my blog 10 times every day and those blog entries would be shown directly on Twitter just like they are supposed to. Then I discovered a way to have all the blog entries done for me automatically, hoping that the more posts I would have the more people who would see them.
The results of my Twitter marketing efforts are: After three years utilizing these tools, I had gained about 10,000 Twitter followers. And while you may think that is fantastic, just wait. Also in the past three years I have had over fifteen thousand of my blog posts that were advertising affiliate products tweeted to my Twitter account. And that was the only advertising that I did for that blog, I decided not to even ping the posts to see just what Twitter could do for me. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to get decent results but using Twitter I only got 2 - 4 visitors each day to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 sales was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - pretty dismal all around!
Basically, having roughly 10,000 followers on Twitter using all these programs will not give you the results you desire. As a matter of fact, in the last 3 years I have not even generated enough money from that blog to pay for the Twitter programs that I had paid for. Lastly, I cannot personally recommend using automatic software tools as a financially viable way of advertising your products on Twitter. Receive Frank Kern in this article.
